맹그로브 숲 조림 사업이란?
열대 및 아열대 해안에 자리한 맹그로브는 거대한 숲으로, 진흙 속에서 공기와 영양분을 제공하여 탄소 저장고 역할을 합니다. 그러나 전 세계 맹그로브 숲의 40~50%가 이미 소실되었고, 그 파괴 속도는 열대우림의 4배에 달합니다.
맹그로브 숲의 감소는 지구온난화와 해수면 상승을 촉발하며, 연간 60억에서 최대 420억 달러의 손실과 맞먹는 탄소를 배출합니다.
이제는 온실가스 감축을 실현하고 생물다양성을 보존하는 맹그로브 숲 조림 및 재조림 프로젝트와 지속적인 돌봄 활동이 필요할 때입니다.

TNFD 프레임워크
- 맹그로브 숲 조림 프로젝트는 TNFD의 Goal A 기준을 충족합니다. 사라지고 있는 맹그로브 숲을 재조성하여 다양한 생물이 서식할 수 있는 자연으로 복원하고 전체 생태계 면적을 늘리는 데 기여합니다.
- 또한, 나무 식재로 온실가스 감축을 실현하여 탄소중립에 기여하므로, TNFD의 Goal B 기준을 충족합니다.
- 맹그로브 숲 조림 프로젝트는 파괴된 열대우림을 재조림해 생태적 완전성을 회복하며, 생태계 서비스로서의 숲을 복원시킵니다. 또한 멸종위기종인 맹그로브의 조림 및 관리로 내륙 및 연안 지역의 생물다양성을 보존하는 활동을 이어갈 수 있습니다. 본 프로젝트는 Target 1, 2, 3, 4, 8을 만족합니다.
